We are excited to announce our Spring Intro to Beekeeping Class. We will be going over the art of successfully keeping your hives through the summer. Reviewing treatment options and why it is important to set your hives up for success. This Beekeeping class is perfect for the new beekeeper or the person who may be interested in learning more.

In addition to everything you need to know about bees, their lifecycle, how they communicate, their anatomy, how and why they produce wax and propilis, how the foragers collect pollen and nectar, this course covers how to get started in beekeeping, how to grow your hives while preventing swarms, feeding your bees, treating the hive for mites, and managing the hive through all four seasons.

As part of the class, you will get to do a hive inspection, handle frames, see eggs and various stages of brood, identify newly emerged bees, nurse bees, worker bees, drones and possibly spot the queen.  When you’re done, you should be able to confidently pull a frame from your hive, identify the pollen, honey, and know if the brood pattern looks good.

The class will also cover installing a package, what to do after you buy a a nuc, splitting hives, re-queening, and harvesting honey.

This class will be held over 3 sessions: February 8th, February 15th, and February 22nd. Registration is now open, act fast as we have a limited number of spots available. Cost to register is $75 a person.
